Willa came to us with her brother, when they were a whole one month old, in April 2001. We brought her to the house when Piquito got adopted, thinking she was too young to be left to suffer loneliness.
She is a very beautiful cat, though she wasn’t always as beautiful as she is now. In fact, she is living proof of the proposition that true beauty increases with age. When she was young we were hoping to train her as a model. As you can see from the accompanying picture – taken from an early fashion shoot – she had different ideas, and showed herself to be an expert at the yellow stink eye and the sour expression, combined with the strategically placed claw.
Now – at a venerable 15 years of age – she has mellowed out a lot, and can even be quite friendly when she feels like it. It’s been give and take on both sides, and we have learned to treat her with the respect her dignity and refinement require.
