Adopt or sponsor a pet!

The goal for all our residents is to find them a good, loving home. If you are looking for a dog or cat to adopt, you have come to the right place! Please have a look through the list and make your choice. If the pet you are looking for is not here – don’t worry, it’s very difficult to keep the list up-to-date as animals come and go.
The AWARE Shelter at Sumpango is open every Sunday from 10am to 3pm, so please come and visit the animals. You are certain of finding one (or more) to your liking! If you can’t make it on a Sunday, just contact us to make an appointment.
You may not be able to adopt a cat or a dog from us - but why not sponsor one?
You can still support AWARE and help the animals of Guatemala by becoming a god-parent to one or more of our charges. Just look through the list of available dogs and cats, make your choice, and let us know. An Exclusive Sponsorship of US$20 (see the donations section for details of how to donate) will provide food for your adoptee, pay for their flea treatment, and take care of all normal vet bills. You may not wish to contribute as much as a monthly $20 – in which case you can share your sponsorship with others wanting to support the same animal, and send the amount of your choice. Every little helps! In return, we will send you a Certificate of Sponsorship and pictures of your chosen friend, plus regular updates and stories from their life. We will of course let you know as soon as your long-distance pet is adopted, and you will have the choice of discontinuing your sponsorship, or of choosing another animal to sponsor.

Help us by sponsoring a dog or cat, and even, if you can, brighten up their life with the occasional visit!
